The flats surrounding the Lower Florida Keys are beautiful. If you are up for a relaxing but exciting fishing experience with little impact with waves, flats fishing is for you. Shallow water skiffs can run in just inches of water and your guide will use a long pole to push the skiff across the flat while he spots fish for you. You must then make the cast and hopefully with your guide's instructions, hook the fish and fight him.

Tarpon, permit, bonefish, sharks, barracuda and jacks are amoung the most common species of fish found on the flats and in the backcountry. A trip on the flats can be for the serious angler who wishes to fish with light tackle or fly, or for the entire family to enjoy a backcountry adventure.
