The most common bottom fishing done here in the Keys is for Grouper and Snapper. There are so many varieties of these two fish, its difficult to list them all. Some of the most common are Black Grouper, Red Grouper, Red HInd Grouper, Warsaw Grouper, Mutton Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Lane Snapper, and Yellowtail Snapper. Your charter to a wreck or patch reef could yield any one or many of these species. It's a fun trip and is great when you would like to fish with a group because you can all fish at the same time.

Other Wreck and Reef Fish

Some of the other species of fish that you will see on the wrecks and reefs throughout the year are cobia, sharks, barracuda, african pompano, amberjack, bar jacks and rainbow runners. Although most of these are edible fish, you may want to ask your guide which ones to keep for dinner and which ones to release.
